Textile Flower Sculptures
A series of bespoke textile flower sculptures have at long last been photographed and listed on my website. And finally getting to grips with the web page building aspect too!
Original in design, these novel textile sculptures are made from Tyvek (a high-tech 100% spun polyester fabric) and are hand dyed with Kenanthrol acid milling dyes. When the Tyvek is treated with heat, the fabric reacts by contorting and shrinking against the wire frames and gives the petals a distinct, distressed and snakeskin-like appearance. To the touch, the petals then resemble the texture of paper and despite the flowers delicate appearance, the petals can be gently manipulated to alter the lilies form as it rests on it's stem.
